Our Story and Mission
The West End Community Empowerment Project (WECEP) of Lexington, Inc. was established in 1995 by dedicated community members Tanya S. Clark, Melvin E. Cowan, Sr., and Dora M. Hudson. Incorporated in 1996 and achieving 501 C3 non-profit status in 1998, WECEP has grown from serving adult community needs to focusing on the vital after-school and out-of-school programs for children aged 5-17. Our mission is to Motivate, Educate, and Promote community involvement, fostering an environment of mutual respect and dignity. We believe in the power of community to overcome challenges and unlock potential, aiming to create a vibrant, engaged community dedicated to family values, health and wellness, educational opportunities, and civic and economic development.

Our Program Goals
Empowering the Youth, Enriching the Community
At WECEP of Lexington, our after school and out-of-school programs are designed with the primary goal of motivating, educating, and promoting community involvement among children aged 5-17. These programs aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. By offering a variety of activities and learning opportunities, we strive to foster a love for learning, enhance life skills, and build a sense of community responsibility. Our programs are tailored to meet the diverse needs of our participants, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
