1995
Founding of WECEP
WECEP was established on January 5, 1995, by Tanya S. Clark, Melvin E. Cowan, Sr., and Dora M. Hudson, with a mission to serve the community.
1996
Incorporation
WECEP was officially incorporated in 1996, marking a significant step towards formalizing our commitment to community service.
1998
Non-Profit Status
In August 1998, WECEP received its 501(c)(3) non-profit status, enabling us to expand our programs and reach more community members.
2000
First Grant
WECEP received its first grant from the United Way of the Bluegrass, allowing us to enhance our services and support more families.

Our Mission and Vision
At WECEP of Lexington, our mission is to Motivate, Educate, and Promote the involvement of community members. Founded on the belief that community engagement is essential, we strive to meet the challenges faced by youth, families, and the broader community. Our vision is to create a vibrant, engaged community that promotes family values, health and wellness, educational opportunities, and civic and economic development. We are committed to fostering an environment of mutual respect and dignity, empowering individuals to achieve their full potential.
Our Programs and Services
Youth Empowerment Program
Our Youth Empowerment Program offers after-school and out-of-school activities designed to support the academic and personal growth of children aged 5-17. We provide tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities that help youth develop critical life skills.
Community Involvement Initiatives
We organize various community involvement initiatives that encourage residents to participate in local events, volunteer opportunities, and civic activities. These initiatives aim to strengthen community bonds and promote active citizenship.
Family Support Services
Our Family Support Services are designed to assist families in need by providing resources such as counseling, financial literacy workshops, and parenting classes. We believe that strong families are the foundation of a strong community.
